Synopsis: Dale is cheated out of his contractual percentage, but the mayor has other priorities, so his gun does the convincing. April Green's own pregnancy is now very problematic; plastic surgeon Kenchy Dhuwalia is unwilling to operate in primitive conditions, tries but the generator diesel runs out, the baby is lost, April dying. The neighboring Newbern mayor who can supply windmills demands more salt and a bigger share of the next spring crop for it then Jericho can spare, but the people don't know the Marines' promises were bogus; Stanley suggests to promise now and decide later whether to pay; ten Jericho men must go help build them, de facto also hostages, including Stanley and Eric. |
