	Synopsis: With the idol around his neck for good luck, Greg suffers a near tragic surfing crash. Bobby surmises that it could have been worse if Greg wasn't wearing the idol. Next, Jan, with the idol in her possession, unknowingly has a close encounter with a tarantula. It is then that David, seeing the idol for the first time, tells the boys that island superstition deems the idol to be a source of bad luck, news which the boys pass along to the rest of the family. Peter, who doesn't believe in the bad luck, takes the idol, upon which bad luck befalls him. Although David doesn't believe in the superstition, he points to the boys to old Mr. Hanalei, a construction worker who does believe in the superstition. He tells the boys that to rid themselves of the bad luck, they need to return the idol to the ancient burial site of the island kings, to which he himself has never been.
